The professors are all experts in their fields,and although it is difficult to register for some classes due to the number of students trying to get in,there are enough classes that it does not always matter.The workload is somewhat heavy,depending on the major.There are lots of unique study areas on campus available for student use.

I haven't had too much difficulty with my classes or workload so far.There seem to be plenty of options for taking an easy class to take care of an SBC or taking a class you're just interested in.

Rec center is amazing,main library is huge and there are plenty of places to study both in the library and out,I don't really think there are any places really designated to just hanging out,but it's not that hard to find somewhere to meet up with people.

The local atmosphere is great.The locals are really friendly.There's a lot of open space and isolation that can be felt the moment one comes to Stony Brook.There are many shopping places such as Stop&Shop,Walmart,and Target nearby.However,Stony Brook is not much of a college town.It lacks the feel and demographics to be one.That being said,Stony Brook is unique in its own way.Explore the area whenever possible and it will be understood.

Stony Brook is a small,suburban town that's relatively far from any big city so people get bored easily.However,there are many good restaurants around the campus where people can sample delicious food.There is a mall and movie theater close by,as well.They are only a bus ride away.Plus,there is this great performance venue on campus called the University Caféwhere underground bands perform and play some great music.The city of Port Jefferson is a train or bus ride away and there's some interesting stuff to do there.
