Polymer Material Failure
About the Project
The Holistic Structural Integrity Process(HolSIP)Laboratory at Clarkson University has a funded position available for graduate students interested in the field of structural integrity modelling and simulations.
The HolSIP lab is looking for a candidate to work under the supervision of Prof.Marcias Martinez and Prof.Craig Merrett.Qualifications include:
1.Completed master’s preferred,but not required.Master’s students will be considered for this position.
2.Experience in ABAQUS CAE and or Finite Element Analysis
3.Strong background in mathematical and computational analysis.
4.Proficient in technical writing.
5.Consistent with requirements of research funding,preference will be given to US Citizens and/or US permanent residents.
Prof.Martinez and Prof.Merrett are collaborating with an industry partner in modeling and simulation of polymer failure.This technical challenge will require a strong candidate to look at the physics of polymer material failure through Finite Element Analysis and statistical methods.In addition,the student will be working in collaboration with the industry partner.As such we are seeking for a graduate student that is not afraid of performing experimental and numerical studies that require quick turn around in order to provide answers for our industry partner.
